Smart Tuition has some BIG shoes to fill to be as a great of an accounting / AR management tool as Student Billing.  We are testing Smart Tuition this year with only one grade.  Smart Tuition does not come close to Student Billing in regards to financial aid and scholarship management, account adjustments, GL allocation, billing & credit generation, etc, etc.  We rely heavily on our month end student billing reports and smart tuition isn't there yet...  We are student centric and smart is parent centric.  We don't like the control we lose over our parent's accounts [additional fees, higher than we charge, communication issues, etc.]  We prefer to process our own payments so we do not have to wait a week for remittance - the cash flow belongs to us the day parents remit yet we do not have access.  Remittance issues - smart giving us 'smart fees', smart keeping our fees, corrections later...  accounting nightmare.  We have a wonderful system through our bank that allows us to do this.  The pro's for Smart Tuition that Student Billing does not have is that parents can log in to view their accounts, which is helpful.  We realize that Blackbaud is trying to remedy the major issues with Smart, but don't take student billing away from us.... it isn't broken!
